Welcome to the wonderful experience of making music  with the piano!  Whether you are choosing lessons for yourselves or for your children, I hope that you will soon find your life filled with music.

I can just imagine your question about my studio name:  “Why Black Lab Studio?” The obvious reason is that my husband and I have two Black Labrador Retrievers, though it is more than just living with them that prompted the name.  Watching our dogs, we see that Labs have an exuberance and curiosity for all things, akin to the sense of wonder in children discovering something fresh and amazing, like music.  As with many things touched by the extraordinary worlds of nature and childhood, exploring music has its own magical and fascinating metamorphosis.

Becoming musical is much more than learning to play an instrument.  It is learning how to hear, understanding inspiration, becoming expressive through music, and creating something new with each piece of music that is played.  A lesson in piano is also about making decisions, being brave, and remembering many things at once to free the notes from the page to become music. There is more to music than we can ever learn or experience. Whether you or your children are new to learning music, wish to RE-new learning music, or whether the piano is an old and cherished friend, I appreciate your consideration of my studio as your place to explore this amazing instrument.

Music lessons awaken wonder, spontaneity, and enjoyment that can last forever!  The piano is the perfect place to start.
